Vape cartridges are a favorite method of medicating for many patients, largely due to their convenience and near-instantaneous effect.
But because of the high potency of many vape cartridges, they tend to wreak havoc on your tolerance. As a result, you may find that the more you use carts, the faster you start going through them – and that can get expensive quickly.
We’ve put together a few tips that might help you get a little more usage out of each of your cartridges and save you money in the process.
STORE YOUR CARTRIDGES UPRIGHT
Make sure that when you aren’t using a cartridge, it’s being stored in an upright position. The easiest way to do this is to save the cylindrical container it comes in and just set that on a table or desk.
Storing carts upright helps reduce the risk of leaks, as many dispensaries’ cartridges have issues with leaking from the top.
CHECK YOUR HEAT SETTINGS
Are you vaping your carts at the highest temperature setting on your battery? If so, stop!
While higher temperature settings can create bigger puffs of vapor, they’ll also burn off the oil inside your carts at a much faster rate.
You usually won’t need to go past the middle setting on the average vape pen battery.
KEEP PULLING PAST THE BUTTON-PRESS
Sometimes if you’re using your vape pen several times in a row in quick succession, the metal inside will heat up to the point that it’s still burning oil even after you take your finger off the battery button.
To avoid wasting that oil, and to help keep your carts from getting clogged, keep pulling for a second or two after you release the button.
SWITCH UP STRAINS
If all else fails, sometimes you just need to try a different strain!
You can become somewhat desensitized to the effects of a particular strain if you’re using it over and over again. It’s great to have a favorite, but sometimes it’s nice to switch it up a little. Consult with your dispensary’s employees on which strains they carry that may provide a similar effect as your favorite but would allow you to give “ol’ faithful” a break.
