Sometimes it’s hard to believe that medical cannabis has been around for less than five years in Florida.
Nowhere is that truer in North Florida than in Tallahassee and Jacksonville, where the number of cannabis dispensaries is rapidly expanding. Both Tallahassee and Jacksonville now have six fully-operating dispensaries.
In Tallahassee, there’s Trulieve, Surterra, Curaleaf, KNOX Medical, Harvest, and the newly-opened VidaCann.
Jacksonville has Trulieve, Surterra, KNOX Medical, Curaleaf, and Liberty Health Sciences. Surterra has two Jax locations – one in Orange Park and one in Riverside. VidaCann is also expected to open in Jax in the next week or two.
And more dispensary openings are coming down the pipeline in both cities.
Tallahassee is set to get a GrowHealthy at some point in the near future; it would be GrowHealthy’s first North Florida location. MedMen, which just recently entered the Florida market, is looking at a location on Thomasville Road for their entry into the state’s capital.
And Jacksonville residents have even more options coming soon. In addition to VidaCann, the city is almost set to welcome Harvest, which has a set location along Beach Boulevard and already has signage up at that spot. MUV recently got approved to build a dispensary in the San Marco neighborhood along Hendricks Avenue; it would be MUV’s first North Florida store. Newcomer ZenLeaf is looking to open on Beach Boulevard near the beach. MedMen wants to potentially open two Jax-area locations – one in the trendy Five Points neighborhood, and another at the Beaches.
For big-city medical cannabis patients, things are looking very good for the rest of 2019 and beyond.
